December 2010 UPDATE - A lot has happened this year and I apologize for not updating thsi site sooner but frankly I ahve been incredibly busy. A lot changes since the last update including moving to a new and larger office for my growing team.  I added another team member this fall.  Her name is Maribeth Kinsley and she is a Buyers Agent for our team.  You can read all about it on my new wensite http://www.JulesListings.com. July 2009 UPDATE - Well it’s been a while since I updated this site but things are still going great.  Business is booming despite the current economic downturn.  There has been an interesting change in our brokerage.  Exit Realty Paramount is now owned by Tom Taylor (former broker / owner of Northern Michigan Land Brokers).  Tom has transformed my business.

 

As of this publishing I am ranked number 19 out of 650 licensed (330 active) REALTORS with 2.3 million in volume.  I only tell you things because it proves that if you have the knowledge and resources you can make a great living in real estate.

Update - April, 2008

Well, I have 6 months into my switch to Exit Realty and I couldn’t be happier.  I can say with complete certainty that making the move has been the best decision I have ever made in business.  Why the enthusiasm?
 Since making the switch I have more than doubled my listing inventory (I now carry 0ver 100 listings) and almost tripled my inventory.  As they say, he who controls the inventory controls the market.  Sales a a bit slow but I have several deals under contract and I’m getting more every day.

I have always been a pretty tech savvy person but I have to tell you since coming to Exit I have doubled my knowledge. Just for example I now use:

Exit’s E-lisitngs
– Audio based visual tour software with an 800 number, call capture, custom web page for each listing and it’s easy to use.

Real Estate Shows
– Within 10 minutes I can create an HTML based web page that can also double as a visual tour.  This allows me to integrate my listings into any of my custom websites without having to learn any web programming.

Exit’s Promo shop
– This is the best of all.  This software has  allowed me to produce superior custom flyers, postcards, and other marketing material in minutes.  I can print it here or have it professionally printed wit just a click of the mouse.  In addition you can set up drip email campaigns for you existing clients or future prospects.  Set it once and forget it.

Since this office really didn’t take off until about December when Bob and Tia moved in from the Elk Rapids office I had plenty of time to get situated.   Working around people who are all up beat and motivated has been great too.  Every time I walk past the sales board and see another listing go up I get competitive and it pushes me harder.  

I have found that we actually work as a team and everyone is working to make Exit the best of the best.  In the coming months you will see a drastic increase in adverting throughout the region including bill boards, print, television and internet. 

Exit Michigan is poised to grow where other brokerages will shrink.  In this market we have several agents who are experts when it comes to foreclosure and short sales.  I have to admit I actually learned from new agents.

Prior to joining Exit I had the pleasure of meeting Tammi Bonnell – President of US Operations.  She was friendly and very informative about her prior experience as well as her success with Exit.  Just 2 weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Exit’s founder and CEO Steve Morris in Dearborn during a 4 hour training seminar.  Being there listening to him speak for 4 hours was incredible.  I had never met the CEO of any other national franchise nor had I heard of anyone else doing the same.

I was inspired to think that in less than 6 months I have met  Tammi, Steve and Jodi Keats one of Exit’s national trainers.  You are not just a warm body at Exit, you are a member of a team which is growing rapidly.  What’s next for Exit Realty Paramount?  We are moving to a state of the art office located at the corner of Eight and Cass in Downtown Traverse City in early July.

This office will allow us to accommodate more than a dozen new agents all with private offices.  We will have a new 40+ capacity training center which will allow for live interactive training, a private closing room for added convenience as well as a separate commercial division.  We are all excited about the move and look forward to showing it to our clients.

I can honestly say that if I hadn’t made the move to Exit, I don’t know whether I would have been able to carry on doing business the way I had in the past.  Being in a larger office has opened many doors to new opportunity.  The excitement breeds more excitement and certainly keeps me motivated.  I am looking forward to the coming months when business should be booming.

Update – September 14, 2008

 

We are approaching the end of  summer and in 2 weeks will be the one year anniversary of my joining Exit Realty Paramount.  I am even more happy with my decision to join Exit now that we have moved into our new 6,000 square foot office at the corner of 8th Street and Cass Street in Old Town Traverse City.

 

The move more than triples our space, added numerous new private offices, now have 2 conference rooms and added a huge training facility here in our own office.  We have recruited several new agents to the office since my last update including Paula Erickson, an agent I sponsored.

 

I have spent the past 6 weeks training Paula and showing her all that Exit offers.  As she is new to the business I have taken her out with me on numerous listing appointments, showings and closings.  I believe she will agree when I say that she had gotten more out of  those few weeks than she ever would have had she had to try it on her own over a year.

 

She now has real world experience that only comes from observing other or doing it on your own.  Her comfort level is very high and she knows exactly what to expect in just about any situation.  Feel free to contact her with any questions at paula@pericson.com or on her cell phone at 231-313-7114.

 

What has Exit Realty done for my business in the past year?  Well had it not been for Exit Realty and the owners of this wonderful company, I would not have nearly as many listings and sales.  Now that we are in a highly visible location and in a brand new building our growth potential is unbelievable.

 

I believe we are one of the only real estate companies in the Grand Traverse region that is actually expanding and not laying off staff.  The attitude here is great, always positive and certainly encouraging.  Check back again for more updates.
